Cheryl Martinez, a UC Berkeley alumna with two decades of experience in marketing and communications, joined CDSS in May 2025 as Director of Communications.

Before joining CDSS, she led communications at the Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society and the Banatao Institute (CITRIS) across UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Merced and UC Santa Cruz, promoting interdisciplinary research and innovation in service to the public good. Her work also supported fundraising efforts and the launch of key initiatives and outreach programs. Previously, as a senior marketing program manager for MongoDB, she drove global campaign execution and improved cross-functional collaboration across product, event, web and brand teams.
